The founders

Maison Francis Kurkdjian was born in 2009 from the meeting of Francis Kurkdjian, a renowned perfume creator and creator of many successful perfumes, and Marc Chaya, co-founder and president of the House.

Francis Kurkdjian, the nose of the House, decided to become a perfumer when he was barely 15 years old and knew absolutely nothing about the profession. In fact, if he was already passionate about smells, he didn't know which road he was going to take.

In 1990, this passionate and determined artist entered the International Perfumery School ISIPCA in Versailles and at the same time followed a postgraduate course at the Institut Supérieur de Marketing du Luxe. Just out of school, he was lucky enough to be given the brief for a perfume for Jean-Paul Gaultier. Today, it is one of the greatest successes on the planet. It is Jean-Paul Gaultier's famous Mâle, created in 1993.

In 2001, he opened his own workshop for the creation of custom-made perfumes. That same year, he was also awarded the Prix du Parfumeur François Coty for all of his creations. In addition to his awards, he won the Oscar Cosmétique Magazine for best perfumer of the year in 2008, and was thus named a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of Arts and Letters).
