Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle offers today's best perfumers the opportunity to push the limits of creation and create perfumes of unequalled quality. Frédéric Malle works with the most important perfumers of his generation; these artists marked their era by composing the greatest successes of the world perfumery.

Faced with the imminent extinction of "great perfumery", Frédéric Malle decided to take the initiative. He wants to "put the church back in the middle of the village", to return to its original quality, giving free rein to the perfumers' imagination. He wants to give each perfumer total freedom and recognize perfume creators as artists, to whom he offers to sign their creations with their own name.

Thus was born the idea of opening a publishing house where fragrances are created like works of art. Frédéric Malle then positioned himself as a publisher who allows the best perfumers to become authors and to surpass themselves to compose the "classics" of tomorrow.

Concept

Because Les Editions de Parfums was created to give free rein to the imagination of artists with very different styles, the house's compositions do not illustrate a common aesthetic, on the contrary, they are very diverse.

Yet there are two points in common to all these creations: a stripped-down - almost minimal - olfactory writing that leaves room only for the essential, and also the fact that each of these fragrances is not worked to be simply a beautiful scent, but to become one with the person who will wear it. The house's collection is increasingly important because, out of respect for designers and customers, Frédéric Malle doesn't want to publish ephemeral scents.

FOUNDER, Frédéric Malle

Frédéric Malle comes from a famous family of industrialists, artists and perfumers. His grandfather, Serge Heftler-Louiche, was the founder of Parfums Christian Dior before handing over to his daughter, Frédéric Malle's mother, who took over the artistic direction. He thus represents the third generation of perfume specialists.

Frédéric Malle trained at the prestigious Roure Bertrand Dupont laboratories where he met those who would become his close friends and family in the small world of the world's perfume elite. These relationships of friendship and respect have lasted for years. This is the main reason why they rallied to his cause when he founded his Editions de Parfums in 2000, a completely new company at the time, because its purpose was to put the work of perfumers in the spotlight.
