founder, His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said

Founded in 1983 by His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said, Amouage came to be known as an accomplished, sophisticated, and opulent House. His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said’s vision was to present Oman’s heritage in the field of perfumery to the world and produce a world-class perfume that would incarnate the unique eastern fragrances, particularly those of Oman. Attars - perfumes or essential oils obtained from flowers - and oud, also known as agarwood, a dark, resinous wood with a distinctive fragrance, have been part of Omani culture for more than 2000 years. These perfumes continue to play an important role in contemporary Omani culture.
