L'Artisan Parfumeur

the brand
L'Artisan Parfumeur was born out of a joke when one of Jean Laporte's friends asked him to use his training as a chemist to create a banana scent to wear with a costume made of the same fruit at the Folies Bergères ball. Inspired, he later created a fragrance of pample-mousse, then vanilla.
Jean Laporte followed his intuition and created various original scents with natural raw materials. This first collection was a remarkable success and Mr. Laporte was recognized as a passionate artist and was named L'Artisan Parfumeur by the greatest perfume lovers.
In 1976, L'Artisan Parfumeur was at the height of what is now known as Niche Perfumery.
The first l'Artisan Parfumeur shop opened its doors in 1979 in Paris. Since then, the brand has expanded around the world and has enjoyed great success, despite the rare status at the time of Jean Laporte as an independent perfumer.
